Sinfully seductive, his voice aroused needs in her that no toy could fill. What Review Teams Had To Say

…WHISPER SOMETHING SWEET has an attention-grabbing mixture of suspense, romance, with exhilarating love scenes. The characters evolve in such a way that will remind you of the friends you keep. There is so much drama in this story that readers never get a chance to pause and catch their breath. Run out and buy this today because it will be flying off the shelves. (5 Stars Real Page Turners)

…Whisper Something Sweet by Deatri King-Bey is a deliciously sweet read! With characters like Gabriel and Sweetie heating up the pages what more can you ask for? (4.5 stars APOOO Book Club)

…I am hesitant to continue for fear of telling you how this tale plays out, but I will say that you will be in for a hysterical ride and a real treat for your reading pleasure. Ms. King-Bey has totally outdone herself as she takes her readers on a whirlwind romance from beginning to end. This is most definitely my favorite Deatri King-Bey read and I highly recommend this at the top of everyone’s summer reading list. On a side note, I must also commend this author for creating a plus sized protagonist. It is rare that there is a leading lady larger than a size 7 with as much class, confidence and overall charisma as seen in Monica. Kudos. (5 stars Black Butterfly Review)

…I love the way Deatri King Bey weaves a story. With Whisper Something Sweet, she builds a momentum that keeps you on your toes. When you think you know what is coming, this book takes you in a completely different direction, making the story even more intriguing. (5 stars BBW Review)

Back Story

Don’t tell anyone (smile) but I HATE writing sex scenes, so when I was approached to write an erotic romance, my first reaction was hell no. Then my acquisitions editor gave me a treatment and asked again for me to write this erotic romance. A treatment is a general concept for a book. She’d wanted the heroine to be plus sized and there to be a case of mistaken identity. They were to both have professional jobs, maybe in a bank or financing. I loved my acquisitions editor, so agreed to write the book.  So I went back and thought on it a bit. She had suggestions which I always value, but I gotta be me.

I’d write this book, but I wanted to make sure the cover would not have one of those horrible cartoon covers the publishing industry used to be fond of using instead of using a larger heroine. I wanted a big beautiful black woman and she promised to ensure I’d have the cover I desired. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVED the original cover (not that I don’t love the current cover). I put everything I had into that book. Because I know sex scenes aren’t my strong suit, I had to step out of my comfort zone and dig deeeep for those bad puppies. I couldn’t rip off the reader. It had to be good. I write sensually erotic and I think I pulled it off.

I was very pleased with the finished product, and so were the readers. Whisper Something Sweet won the Emma for the Best Steamy Romance of the year. The Emma Awards are THE premier awards event for Black romance, so to say I was honored is a serious understatement.

Note Nov. 2011 I received my rights back from the publisher for this title. So if you see a version with the orginal cover (Lovely, sultry heroine with the hero in the background in his briefs) for sale, I do not receive royalties for those purchases. I know you want authors to be paid for their efforts, so I wanted to make you aware of  this.
